| Closing the Gap in Young Adult Coverage |
| Saturday, May 01, 2010 |
Federal health care reform legislation, signed into law last month, extended the dependent age for coverage to 26 for policy renewals after Sept. 23, 2010. As a result, many dependents that currently have coverage under their parents’ plan would face a coverage gap.
Effective May 1, 2010, this gap will be closing and allowing young adults who are currently covered as dependents on their parents’ health insurance plans to keep their current coverage until the Federal legislation takes effect in September.
Dependents who are under the age of 26 but not currently covered under their parent or guardians' health plan will be allowed to enroll as dependents on their parent's health insurance coverage upon the plan's renewal, on or after Sept. 23, 2010. |

| Protect Your Home |
| Tuesday, September 02, 2008 |
Do you have the right amount of insurance? The following suggestions may help you to determine if your insurance is adequate.
1. Calculate your replacement costs per square foot. Compare your coverage to the amount it would cost to rebuild your home.
2. Choose a policy that provides "replacement cost" coverage. A policy that pays out "actual cash value" will only pay you what your possessions were worth when they were destroyed, not what it will cost to replace them. You should be sure that your policy has a quaranteed replacement-cost rider, which covers the actual cost to replace your home.
3. Get "loss of use" for two full years. Make sure the covered amount will pay rent and related living expenses for two full year while your home is being rebuilt.
4. Match coverage to your home's contents. Take a detailed inventory of your household items. Find out their replacement costs and make sure your contents coverage is adequate. |

| Medicare Information |
Medicare is a Health Insurance Plan for people age 65 or older, or under 65 with certain disabilities and at any age with End Stage Renal Disease.
There are two ways to get your Medicare Health Care Coverage:
I. Original Medicare Plan.
A. Part A is the Hospital coverage. There is no premium associated with this coverage.
B. Part B is the coverage for Physicians Services. This coverage is optional but if selected the premium for Part B in 2007 is $93.50 is individual income is less than $80,000 or joint income is less than $160,000. For incomes over this the premium increases. Premiums are deducted from Social Security payments.
C. Part D is the Prescription Drug Coverage. This is provided through private insurance companies and premium for this coverage will vary depending on the coverage and company you select.
D. Medigap Insurance plans can be purchased through private insurance companies. This coverage fills in the gaps that are associated with the original Medicare coverage. The premiums associated with this coverage will vary by policy and company selected.
II. Medicare Advantage Plans – HMOs & PPOs
A. Medicare Advantage Plans are Part C under Medicare and the coverage is provided by private insurance companies. This coverage combines Part A (Hospital) and Part B (Medical) under one plan. The companies offering the coverage must be pre-approved by Medicare. The premiums may be lower than original Medicare plan and the benefits may be better.
B. Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage) will be offered through the Medicare Advantage Plans. The premiums will depend on the plan and company selected.
